Claude Code is good out of the box, but each project ends up needing the same helpers: a Python scaffolder, a test writer, a reviewer. Writing those agents and commands yourself takes an afternoon.

wshobson/agents is a collection of plugins, agents, skills and commands for AI coding tools. The README lists 94 plugins, with 202 agents, 185 skills and 105 commands in the local source. It works with Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, OpenCode, Antigravity CLI, GitHub Copilot and Pi. This post covers the Claude Code route.

Install the Python plugin

Run these inside Claude Code to register the marketplace and install one plugin:

/plugin marketplace add wshobson/agents
/plugin install python-development@claude-code-workflows

Install only the plugin you need. Adding a few at a time keeps each session small, and the README's quick start table points you to others: javascript-typescript, developer-essentials and security-scanning.

Scaffold something

/python-development:python-scaffold Create a FastAPI service with tests

Read the generated layout and dependencies before you run anything. Then run the generated tests and ask the plugin's agents to fix whatever fails.

What the plugin covers

The python-development plugin is described as covering Python, Django, FastAPI, testing and packaging. For code review, debugging and Git work, look at developer-essentials. For dependency checks and code scanning, look at security-scanning.

Using a different tool

The same repo supports other harnesses. For OpenCode, Antigravity, Copilot and Pi the README uses make targets from a clone, such as make install-opencode. Available components depend on the harness and the install route, so check the capability matrix in the repo's docs before you assume a feature carries over.

A prompt you can paste

"Add the wshobson/agents marketplace to Claude Code, install only python-development, then scaffold a small FastAPI service with tests. List every file the plugin created before running anything."

Caveats

  • Plugins can include hooks and MCP configuration, so open a plugin's files before you enable it on a sensitive repo.
  • This walkthrough follows the README and has not been run end to end by us. Check the repo for newer instructions.
