Tea Bro: a Telegram Mini App for tea-by-state matching and daily check-ins

Tea Bro is a free Telegram bot (and Mini App) built around a simple idea: a cup of tea is a low-friction reason to notice your state — and the product should match that moment, not demand a new account or a long onboarding.
This post is a short product/engineering note for people who build bots, Mini Apps, or wellness tools in chat.
What it does
- Tea-by-state matching — a short flow (about five questions) that points to a direction among six tea types (shu puer, sheng, white, Tie Guan Yin, Da Hong Pao, GABA oolong). The point is orientation, not a rigid diagnosis.
- State Compass — a daily check-in with one concrete action for today.
- State journal — a lightweight log so a single hard evening does not rewrite the whole week in your head.
- Tests — burnout, hormone-type orientation, self-deception, meditation fit — framed as self-observation, not clinical advice.
- Guides on the site — brewing, water temperature, rituals — linked from the chat when someone wants depth.
Entry points:
- Bot / Mini App page: teabro-site.vercel.app/bot-tea-bro.html
- Tea hub + test: teabro-site.vercel.app/kakoy-chay-test.html
- Home: teabro-site.vercel.app/
Why Telegram
For this use case, Telegram beats a standalone app:
- No separate signup — the graph already has identity.
- Mini App surface — forms and results without forcing a native install.
- Return path — daily check-ins live where people already open chat.
- Shareability — a link to a hub page or a bot start payload is enough.
The site (static pages on Vercel) holds long-form guides and SEO-facing content. The bot holds the short loop: state → hint → optional cup or journal mark.
Design choices that matter
State before cultivar. Matching starts from “what do you need now?” (clarity, softness, warmth, calm), not from rare names on a shelf. That keeps the first session under a few minutes.
One action, not a program. The Compass returns a single next step. Streaks and multi-week plans are optional challenges, not the default path.
Honest limits. Copy states clearly: not therapy, not medical diagnosis. That is both ethics and product clarity — users know what they are getting.
Deep links to specific pages. When we mention the product outside Telegram, we prefer hub URLs (tea test, compass, bot page) over only the homepage, so context survives the click.
Stack sketch (high level)
- Telegram Bot API + Mini App WebApp for interactive flows
- Static marketing/education site on Vercel
- Content and tests structured so the same “state → suggestion” logic can appear in chat and on the web
We are not open-sourcing the full product in this post; the goal is to share the product shape for anyone designing similar check-in bots.
Who it is for
- Builders exploring Telegram Mini Apps for non-dev verticals (wellness, habits, education)
- People who want a small daily ritual without another standalone app
- Anyone comparing bot-first vs web-first for content + interaction
Try it
Open the bot page and start from the tea test or the Compass:

Feedback from people who ship bots is welcome — especially around Mini App UX, retention of daily check-ins, and how you separate “content site” from “chat loop.”
