Finding someone to talk to when you need a listening ear shouldn't be complicated. That’s why I created Aura β€” a supportive platform designed to connect people with volunteer listeners in real time through secure, low-latency VoIP voice calls.

We just launched our landing page, and I'd love to get feedback from the developer community!

πŸ’‘ What is Aura?

Aura is a mobile application built to foster genuine human connection. Whether someone is going through a tough moment or simply wants an empathetic conversation, Aura matches them with available volunteer listeners based on proximity, language, and real-time availability.

πŸ› οΈ The Tech Stack

To deliver a smooth, responsive cross-platform experience, I chose a modern stack:

  • Frontend: Flutter & Dart (Single codebase for iOS and Android)
  • Real-time Audio: Agora RTC SDK (High-reliability audio channels)
  • Backend & Database: Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Functions)
  • Auth: Firebase Authentication (Phone / SMS OTP)

πŸ—οΈ Architecture Highlights

  1. Secure Token Generation for Calls
To keep voice channels secure, Firebase Cloud Functions dynamically generate short-lived Agora channel tokens on demand, ensuring API keys are never exposed on the client side.

  2. Live Listener Pool State
Using Firestore real-time streams, the app maintains an active pool of available volunteers and filters connections efficiently using location parameters.

πŸ’¬ I'd Love Your Feedback!

We are currently gauging interest and gathering early feedback before the full public rollout.

  2. Let me know what you think of the concept in the comments below!
  3. If you've built real-time audio apps with Flutter and Agora, how did you handle background call states?

If you find this project interesting, feel free to drop a reaction! πŸ’–
