Why Stateless AI Fails at SRE (And How Contextual Memory Fixes It)

During a P1 production outage, every minute of downtime costs thousands of dollars. Standard AI assistants lack organizational context, providing generic textbook advice or hallucinating destructive CLI commands.

To solve this, I built NerveCenter, an intelligent SRE agent that replaces generic AI with historically grounded runbooks.

NerveCenter uses Streamlit, Groq (gpt-oss-120b), and Vectorize Hindsight as a dynamic memory layer. When a "Redis OOM Error" alert fires, NerveCenter queries the vector database for similar past incidents. It retrieves Incident 892, outputs the exact redis-cli FLUSHALL ASYNC command used to fix it, and injects the post-mortem notes directly into the context. If flushing the cache previously caused a latency spike, the agent actively warns the engineer before executing the command.

By grounding the LLM in real execution logs, we eliminate hallucinations and prevent repeated mistakes.

Check out the Hindsight GitHub or learn about Vectorize agent memory to see how this works. You can also read the Hindsight docs.
