Universal Downloader is a free, open-source Windows app on top of yt-dlp: paste a link, get a file. Everything runs on your PC. Version 1.4 is out, and it has a completely new look.
What's new
New "glass rail" design
- A side panel on the left with the tabs, the download folder ("Choose folder", "Open", "ask every time"), "Support the project", theme, help and language. The folder used to be on one tab; now it is visible everywhere.
- Translucent cards on a colored background, a teal theme in light and dark.
- A big input bar with the button inside. A long link or a list of links stretches the field.
- Download options as tiles across the card.
- The player is a dark "island" above the field that moves with the page. On a phone it sits at the bottom of the screen.
- On a phone the panel moves to the top and the tabs go in a row.
- The Help page uses the same palette.
All buttons and features are where they were. In older browsers without blur support the cards are just solid color.
Fixed
The page no longer depends on the Windows registry. If .js is mapped to text/plain there, the buttons and tabs stopped working after 1.3 (pressing Find just cleared the link field). Scripts are now served with an explicit type.
