Spot the softlock
- You keep reopening the same tab without starting.
- The task is vague, so every option feels equally urgent.
- βIβll do it laterβ becomes the only plan.
Break the loop
- Name the smallest visible action. Replace βwork on the projectβ with βopen the file and write one heading.β
- Shrink the commitment. Set a ten-minute timer; stopping afterward is allowed.
- Change the surface. Put the next action on paper, a blank document, or a short checklist.
- Leave a breadcrumb. Before you stop, write the next exact step so restarting costs less.
If you want a quick check-in, try the Softlock quiz, browse the daily reset, or read the field guide.
