Rune's history and investors
Rune, founded in 2024, builds technology that helps the military predict supply needs and manage logistics from the field. Before the deal, the company had raised a total of $30 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures and IQT, the CIA-backed nonprofit investment firm formerly known as In-Q-Tel.
In its previous funding round, led by Human Capital, Rune was valued at $127 million.
Expansion into defense technology
The deal supports Salesforce's Missionforce division, which serves national security and defense agencies. The division was created in 2025 and is experiencing significant growth, fueled in part by a $5,6 billion, 10-year contract with the U.S. military.
