Identity Security Cloud (ISC), the product many people still call IdentityNow, is now where most new SailPoint projects start. If you already work in IT and want to move into identity governance, here is what a practical ISC course should cover in 2026, how long it takes, and how to judge one before you pay.
Who ISC training is for
ISC suits working IT professionals: system administrators, Active Directory and help desk engineers, security analysts, and IdentityIQ (IIQ) developers moving to the cloud product. You don't need to be a Java developer. ISC is configured more than coded, but you do need to be comfortable with JSON, REST APIs and basic scripting, because transforms, rules and workflows are where interviews go deep.
The seven areas a complete ISC course covers
- Introduction to ISC. Tenants, identity profiles, sources and the virtual appliance, and how ISC differs from IIQ.
- Application onboarding. Connecting authoritative sources (usually HR) and target systems, aggregation, correlation and account schemas.
- Roles, access profiles and entitlements. Building an access model that business users can actually request and approve.
- Target application onboarding. Provisioning to Active Directory and other targets, attribute sync and transforms.
- Search. ISC's search language is how you answer audit questions quickly, such as "who has admin access to finance apps?"
- Certification. Building and running access review campaigns, and handling revocations.
- Separation of duties (SoD). Defining toxic combinations and stopping them at request time.
A course that skips transforms, search or SoD is teaching you the screens, not the job.
How long it takes
With live evening classes, most working professionals need about six weeks: roughly 24 hours of live instruction plus practice between sessions. Faster bootcamps exist, but people who move straight from a 4-day course into an interview often struggle with scenario questions such as "a joiner's AD account was created but the email attribute is blank; where do you look?"
Five checks before you enrol
- Trainer experience. Ask how many years they have spent on real identity projects, and which ISC modules they have delivered.
- Live or recorded. Recorded videos are cheaper, but live classes let you ask why something failed.
- Practice. Ask exactly how hands-on practice works and what you will build during the course.
- Batch size. Smaller batches (15 or fewer) get more questions answered.
- Honest outcomes. "Placement assistance" (resume help, mock interviews, referrals) is realistic. "Guaranteed placement" is a red flag.
One option
IAM Careers runs a live online SailPoint ISC course: 7 modules over 45 days with 24 hours of live classes, a maximum of 15 learners per batch, recordings for 2 years, guided hands-on practice and placement assistance. The trainer has 10+ years in the IAM industry. Fees and the next batch date are on the course page. Learners in Hyderabad can also see the ISC training in Hyderabad page.
Whatever you choose, use the seven areas above as a checklist. If a syllabus doesn't name transforms, search and SoD, keep looking.
