š± Why Open-Source AI Matters
Open-source AI makes it possible for developers to experiment, inspect their tools, and adapt models to specific needs without depending entirely on a proprietary AI API. For a small restaurant, a menu translation tool could help customers understand dishes more easily and potentially improve the dining experience.
This project is an early prototype. The current version requires internet access to obtain model files when they are not cached. Before commercial deployment, the model's license and hosting requirements would need to be reviewed.
š What I Learned
Building this project helped me learn how to integrate an AI translation model into a JavaScript application, troubleshoot model-loading errors, and publish an open-source project.
I'd love to hear suggestions for improving it!
