I was fed up with posting on social media and feeling like no one was really listening so I created VibeCheck.

Have you ever posted a funny joke, a good idea, a real question on one of those social apps and just got ignored because you don't have a massive following? I really didn't like that. I'm Kofi Osolobrugwerukeme RHEMA.

Have you ever posted a funny joke, a good idea, a real question on one of those social apps and just got ignored because you don't have a massive following?

I really didn't like that.

I'm Kofi Osolobrugwerukeme RHEMA. Over the past few months I've been building VibeCheck (vibecheck.com.ng) to fix what I believe is the problem with today's social feeds.

What’s Really Wrong With Social Feeds Today

At some point, social apps stopped being about real conversations and started focusing on numbers instead:

  1. The Follower Barrier: if you don't have loads of followers then virtually no-one will see what you post.
  2. App bloat: most apps get you to download over 100MB which takes up space on your device and runs trackers in the background.
  3. Privacy exposure: a huge number of platforms will ask for your phone number, will sync your contacts and will share your private information with people you don't know.

Here’s What I Made Instead

I wanted something light weight, I wanted something simple, quick and fair for everyone. Followers needed: when you post on VibeCheck your thought goes live on the timeline instantly. It doesn't matter if it's your very first minute on the platform or your 100th day, you get the exact same visibility as everyone else.

  • No App Store downloads: you can use it straight in your browser on your phone or computer. There's nothing to install really, it doesn't take up any space and loads very quickly even on a poor connection.
  • Handle based privacy: you don't have to sync your phone number. Just pick a handle, post your thoughts and keep your privacy.

Give It a Try

I built this because I want the internet to feel open and spontaneous again, like a town square where you can just walk in and join the conversation without needing a invite or any of that 'we need x number of people' type of thing.

Check it out, share your first vibe, and tell me what you think:

I'd be very keen to hear your thoughts on the UI, how it works, and just how it feels to use.
