I Built Spyhound: Open-Source Spyware Detection Directly on Android

Detecting sophisticated Android spyware is difficult, especially for people without access to a computer or technical security tools.

That's why I'm developing Spyhound.

It's a free, open-source Android application that checks devices for published indicators associated with spyware and stalkerware.

What makes Spyhound different?

  • Runs directly on Android
  • Performs scans offline
  • Doesn't require a computer for basic scanning
  • Supports deeper inspection through Shizuku or root
  • Explains findings, suspicious indicators and detection gaps
  • Includes no advertising or user tracking
  • Provides reproducible Android builds

Transparency matters

Spyhound cannot guarantee that a device is clean. It only identifies evidence available through its supported checks and published indicators.

Looking for feedback

Version 0.3.6 is available now.

I'd especially appreciate feedback from Android developers, security researchers and privacy advocates.
