I Built an Online Gamepad Tester to Help Gamers Test Their Controllers
Have you ever connected a controller to your PC, started your favorite game, and suddenly discovered that one of the buttons wasn't working? Or noticed your character moving on its own because of possible joystick drift?
Have you ever connected a controller to your PC, started your favorite game, and suddenly discovered that one of the buttons wasn't working? Or noticed your character moving on its own because of possible joystick drift?
These problems can be frustrating, especially when you're about to start a competitive match or have just purchased a new controller.
That's why I built GamepadTesterPro.com, an online tool that helps gamers test their gamepads and check whether their controllers are responding correctly.
Why I Built This Tool
A game controller can develop problems over time. Buttons might stop responding, analog sticks may register unexpected movement, and triggers might not behave as expected.
Sometimes, it's difficult to determine whether the issue comes from the controller, the game, or its settings.
I wanted to create a simple way for gamers to check their controller inputs directly in a browser without needing to install additional testing software.
What Can You Test With GamepadTesterPro?
I've designed the tool to help gamers check their controllers through a straightforward online testing experience.
1. PS5 Controller Test
If you use a DualSense controller, a PS5 controller test can help you check whether its buttons, analog sticks, and other supported inputs are registering correctly when connected to a compatible device.
2. PS4 Controller Test
A PS4 controller test is useful for checking a DualShock 4 controller before gaming or troubleshooting an input problem. You can inspect the controller's supported inputs and see how they respond during testing.
3. Gamepad Button Test
A gamepad button test helps you identify buttons that may not register as expected. Press different buttons and observe the tester's response to check whether the inputs are being detected.
4. Joystick Drift Test
Stick drift can cause a character or camera to move even when you're not touching the analog stick.
An online joystick drift test can help you observe the stick's reported position and identify unexpected movement while the stick is released. This can help you investigate a possible drift issue, although it doesn't replace a hardware inspection.
5. Online Game Controller Testing
One of my main goals was to make controller testing accessible and convenient. Instead of immediately downloading software, you can visit the website and try the available testing features in your browser.
You can use the tester when troubleshooting a controller, checking a recently purchased gamepad, or making sure your inputs are responding before starting a game.
6. Test Your Gamepad on Mobile
You don't always need a PC to test your controller. GamepadTesterPro is also designed to be accessible on mobile devices, making it convenient to try controller testing on your phone. Depending on your device, browser, controller connection, and gamepad compatibility, you may be able to connect a supported controller and check its inputs directly from your mobile browser.
Whether you're using a PC, Android phone, or another compatible device, visit https://www.gamepadtesterpro.com/ and see how the tester works for your setup. If you encounter any mobile compatibility issues, I'd appreciate your feedback so I can continue improving the experience.
Try It and Share Your Feedback
The project is available here:
Website: https://www.gamepadtesterpro.com/
I'd really appreciate it if you visited the website and tried testing your own controller.
If you have a PS5 DualSense, PS4 DualShock 4, or another compatible gamepad, give the available tests a try and let me know how they work for you.
I'm especially interested in feedback about:
- Whether the controller connects and is detected correctly.
- How accurately the buttons and analog sticks respond.
- Whether the testing interface is easy to understand.
- Any bugs, compatibility issues, or features you'd like to see added.
I'm continuing to improve the tool, and feedback from real gamers can help me understand what needs improvement and what features would be most useful.
A quick question for the community: What controller do you use most often, and which feature would you find most useful in an online gamepad tester?
Thanks for checking out my project. I'm looking forward to hearing your feedback and making GamepadTesterPro better! 🎮
