When my AC showed "CH05", I searched for it and got forum threads, vague YouTube videos and pages that mixed up codes from different brands. In India the problem is worse: most people want the answer in Hindi, Tamil or Bengali, not English. So I built ErrorKhoj โ€” a free site that explains appliance error codes in plain language.

What it covers

  • 406 codes across 13 brands: AC, washing machine, fridge, microwave, dishwasher
  • 6 languages: English, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu
  • Every code has: meaning, common causes, safe steps to try at home, and the source

The data problem

The same code means different things on different brands. E6 on a Voltas AC is a communication error, while on other brands it can be something else entirely. So every code is stored per brand, and each entry is tagged by source confidence: official brand support, matched across 2+ sources, or single source ("confirm with your manual"). When sources disagree, the page lists each possible meaning instead of guessing.

Why static

Each code is its own pre-built page โ€” for example LG AC CH05 or Samsung washing machine 4C. A small dependency-free Node script generates about 2,600 static pages. That gives fast loads on slow mobile networks, clean URLs, and one indexable page per code per language. Hosting is free on Netlify.

Multilingual SEO

Every language lives under its own path (/en/, /hi/, /ta/โ€ฆ) with hreflang tags and an x-default, so Google can serve the Hindi page to Hindi searchers. Each language also gets its own XML sitemap.

Search that understands Indian users

People type ch 5, CH05, voltas e6 kya hai or even เคตเฅ‹เคฒเฅเคŸเคพเคธ เคˆ6. The search normalises O/0 and I/1 look-alikes, leading zeros, Indian-script digits and alternate codes (Samsung 4C = 4E = nF).

What's next

More brands, more fridge and microwave codes, and model-specific notes. If your appliance shows a code that isn't on the site yet, tell me in the comments.
