I Built a Free Barcode Generator (Because BarcodesInc Charges $29/Year)
I was looking at my Etsy shop and realized I was paying $29 a year for BarcodesInc just to generate product barcodes. $29 a year. For something I use once a month when I list new products.
And every time I opened their app, I had to log in. My product SKUs, my UPCs, all of it went to their servers. For a barcode generator. That's ridiculous.
So I built something better.
Barcode & Label Generator runs 100% in your browser.
What you get:
- Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, and Code 39 barcode generation
- Batch generate up to 100 barcodes per PDF sheet
- Preset label sizes (2"Γ1", 3"Γ1", 4"Γ2.5") for Etsy sellers
- Print-ready PDF output β no watermark, no ads, no limits
- Your data never leaves your browser
Why I built it:
- BarcodesInc charges $29/year. I shouldn't have to pay for something I can generate for free.
- They require an account. I shouldn't need one to make a barcode.
- They process data on their servers. I want my product info to stay on my computer.
- Their free tier adds a watermark. I want clean, printable labels.
The app works completely client-side using JsBarcode and pdf-lib. No API calls, no tracking, no servers. You can even use it offline once the page is loaded.
Open-source, free forever, no subscription trap.
