How not to use AI. Student Version :)

everyone is using it. Starting from the school student to professionals from many fields everyone is using AI. But people are dumb (Including me) where the implication of using AI is not wide spread knowledge.
Renting out thinking to machine
During good old days of the proper software engineering people will do think where problems needed to be solved and code need to be written. If you ask a proper software engineer they will say in software development 5 to 10 percent is the actual coding part. This actual typing out code may be solved or automated by this AI but that is just a small part. People who try to just use AI to think are the worst kind. Like when you can't even think to solve a problem and ask AI how to do something.
Lets take a scenario: You have a client who need a website or some application which will attract users in large number. In one good evening without any knowledge of how systems work you sit with your AI buddy and mindlessly start to solve this with just the buddy where you are prompting like a maniac and built a website. But as you rented out your thinking you forgotten to mention the scale which is required and infra for it to your buddy. When people started using the site it got crashed due the large volume of requests and client lost 1 million dollar. Happy scenario right :). Will your client blame your AI buddy or you the guy who dumb enough to rent his thinking to a machine. The language may be harsh but that is the current reality which we are living where each and every this so called anyone can build anything using AI is revolving.
Yes I agree testing out some ideas without technical knowledge gap is closing but it is still demo homie. You can build till demo but after that to production who will seek. For small scale applications too you need to know technical details where it will be absolutely necessary when steering through customer requests. And you guys need to know this so called intelligence systems memory is limited (not like humans). People will understand later that how important it is to think and solve a problem cause building with AI without any technical knowledge to prod will be a disaster sooner or later.
So Rule Number one:
Don't use AI to think.
Students crisis on learning
As I am a working professional in the software development industry I have been recently speaking with students regarding the guidance and those kinds of stuff. Recently one incident struck me like a car light when a chicken tries to cross a road.
One of these students who is studying college currently in his senior years currently was doing a project for some hackathon. They were building some scrapper or something with LLM support of some sort and I wanted to look into the code base and he sent me the GitHub repo. As he said LLM support was the plan when I start reading the code I had found out that this LLM thing which he was telling was just a static JSON which will be returned as a answer :). When I asked him about this he was saying that he don't know and he used a AI tool to build this (I don't want to mention the name but it is something with name what newton discovered when apple fall). Just let this sit in. Basically students who are using AI to do something are seriously doomed man.
I will distinguish the difference between a professional who uses AI to build something and a student or a learner who uses it. As I am professional when I use AI the main reason is that I know my stuff and I want AI just for speedy delivery cause clients are counting on me and real money is being spent on me to do some job. But as a student you are not liable to anything like job or something you guys are just exploring and learning and there is no need to deliver something in few days (If you tell me that projects have deadline and all I will ask what the hell are you doing after college. Do you have a family to support to?).
So rule number 2:
Students don't use AI to build anything. May be use it to learn things but still I will suggest that use blogs and books like caveman.
So these are my observations in recent times where like serious reforms are needed in the student space where like absolute learning is required cause if we leave our generation like this then we will be dumbest one. As per a study gen z IQ is dropped more than 10% than last generation. I am not saying IQ is a proper measure but as it is involving critical thinking which is essential in anything we may consider it. Attention span is shrinking and people are just scrolling like hell. They can't sit for an hour for lectures and read some books. Save the thinking which saved humans for 100s of years.
