GPT-6-Astra’s benchmark gains depend on demonstrations and time
GPT-6-Astra reaches 81.9% on RoboDojo and 87.3% on DexJoCo under a protocol that combines in-context learning (ICL) with up to ten times the usual action budget. Across 12 settings, the report tests tabletop arms, dexterous hands, humanoids, household tasks, and navigation while keeping the model weights fixed.
ICL preparation turns benchmark training demonstrations into a frozen knowledge package: task guidance, motion and visual references, executable helpers, checks, recovery procedures, and metadata. At test time, GPT-6-Astra retrieves and adapts these resources to the current scene; it does not update its weights or carry information between test episodes. A separate manipulation study examines elevator-button experience reuse as a way to reduce completion time using robot geometry and synchronized experience.
The gains are strongest when demonstrations resemble test tasks. On SIMPLE, ICL raises standard-budget success on four shared tasks from 70.8% to 90.8%; on RoboLab, which supplies no training set for ICL, performance remains moderate. The report therefore measures capability under a demonstration-informed protocol, rather than zero-shot generalization alone....
