Google Search Console is the most important free SEO tool. It shows exactly what Google sees about your site — and where the opportunities are.

Performance Report

The most-used report. Shows clicks, impressions, CTR, and position for every query and page.

Key use cases:

  • Find queries with high impressions but low CTR → title or meta description problem
  • Find pages ranking positions 5–20 → optimization opportunities
  • Compare 3-month periods to identify trends

Filter combination: Queries + Page → Shows which queries each specific page ranks for.

Index Coverage Report

Shows which pages Google has indexed and which are excluded — and why.

Check for:

  • Important pages accidentally marked noindex
  • Robots.txt blocking key sections
  • Canonical tags pointing to wrong URLs

Core Web Vitals Report

Based on real user data (not lab simulations). Shows LCP, CLS, INP status.

Priority: Fix "Poor" pages first. These are actively suppressing rankings.
Then: "Needs Improvement" pages.

Links Report

Shows external backlinks, internal links, and top anchor text.

Most useful: See which pages receive the most internal links.
This shows where PageRank is currently concentrated — and where to add more internal links to priority pages.
