GMX Customer Service: Phone, Chat and Contact Form

GMX customer service has no single line for everyone. Your route to a person depends on your country and on whether you pay for a plan. Most free users reach GMX support through a web form or a chat.

This guide lists each route and what GMX says about it. It also covers what to check first, and how to spot fake messages that use the GMX name. All GMX facts come from GMX's own help sites, read in October 2026. We are not affiliated with GMX. BillionVerify is an email verification service. For a short definition of the provider, read what GMX is in our glossary.

Key facts (checked October 2026):

  • GMX customer service on gmx.com runs through one web form, and the English Contact us page lists no phone contact.
  • GMX describes its German chat as always available and answered by a bot.
  • GMX prints one public line, for callers in Switzerland, on the German help site.
  • GMX names a landline for customer service among the features of its paid ProMail and TopMail plans.
  • GMX warns on its phishing page that fake emails are sent in the name of GMX.
  • BillionVerify does not charge for unknown results.

GMX Customer Service by Country

Each country group has its own help site and its own route to GMX customer service. The table sums up what GMX publishes.

Your GMX site Help site How to reach GMX Phone
gmx.com and gmx.co.uk support.gmx.com Online request at gmx.com None listed
gmx.fr support.gmx.fr Online request at gmx.fr None listed
gmx.es support.gmx.es Online request at gmx.es None listed
gmx.net, gmx.at and gmx.ch hilfe.gmx.net Chat and an account assistant Switzerland only

On gmx.co.uk, the help link leads to the same support.gmx.com site. The Austrian and Swiss help links ended on hilfe.gmx.net when we opened them, so those readers share the German help.

How to Contact GMX Customer Support From gmx.com, gmx.fr and gmx.es

The English, French and Spanish sites each lead to one request screen. Pick the topic that fits your problem and send it. An automatic reply arrives at once with troubleshooting tips. If they fall short, answer that email and describe your problem. A GMX support agent then writes back as soon as possible. The site gives no time frame in hours or days.

What the Contact Request Asks For

The gmx.com request has these fields:

  • Name
  • GMX email address, which is the address the problem concerns
  • Contact email address, for people who cannot reach their GMX mailbox
  • Topic, picked from a list
  • Message or question
  • Additional information, which is optional
  • A reCAPTCHA check

The topic list holds 13 entries. They include Access/Login, Account Blocked, Account Setup/Registration, Lost/Missing Email, POP/IMAP, Page Down/Outage, Password, Spam/Abuse Issues, Termination/Cancellation and 2FA.

Use the optional box. GMX wants your browser and version, your last login time, and how you open your account, such as web, phone or Outlook. A note under the fields says GMX owns and may use any information you send.

Postmaster Support for Server Operators

People who run mail servers use a different door. The Postmaster site has its own request screen for spam delisting and unblocking. Ordinary customer support does not use it.

GMX Customer Service in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

The German site works differently. Its contact article leads with a chat. Special cases get their own links, and a few extra services have separate contact articles.

The GMX Chat

GMX calls it the Hilfe-Chat. Its icon sits at the lower right of every German article. The chat runs around the clock and handles problems such as:

  • a login that fails
  • a login you must confirm on an unknown device
  • a forgotten password
  • mails that do not arrive or cannot be sent
  • a full mailbox

Generative AI writes the answers, so you are not talking to a person. GMX admits the bot can make mistakes. When needed, it hands you over to other GMX support options.

Short sentences or keywords work best. Stick to one topic per chat. Do not type your email address or password unless the bot asks.

Login, Password and Unauthorized Access

One special case has a tool of its own. The account assistant at assistent.gmx.net asks what you need. It offers three choices:

  • I forgot my password
  • I cannot log in, but I know my password
  • I suspect unauthorized access

If none fits, the assistant sends you back to the articles and the chat.

The GMX Phone Line

The German contact article prints one phone line. It serves people who live in Switzerland: +41 900 99 88 44. A call costs 2.00 CHF a minute from a Swiss landline, and mobile rates may differ. The GMX support line takes calls on weekdays from 8 to 20 hours and on weekends from 10 to 18 hours. National holidays are excluded.

No toll-free customer service line appears in the articles we read. The article lists no line for free mailboxes in Germany, and Austrian readers land on the same page. A separate article about premium services mentions a hotline for product teams, but it prints no digits.

Other GMX Services

Some services list their own contact points: BriefankΓΌndigung per E-Mail (support address [email protected]), GMX Vorteilsangebote, GMX MailDomain & Homepage, GMX WEB.Cent, and GMX Mobile with a bot in its control center.

Customer Service for GMX Paid Plans

Paid plans add a direct line to customer service. The Premium FAQ lists a landline among the benefits of both plans, so subscribers reach GMX customer support by phone. It does not print the digits. It tells subscribers where to look:

  • In the web mailbox: profile icon, Account verwalten, then Kontakt.
  • In the web mailbox: Services, then Mein Premium.
  • In the iOS app: profile icon, then Mein Premium.

The FAQ also covers contracts. Where you manage a plan depends on where you bought it: the web mailbox, the iOS app or the Android app. A withdrawal is possible within 14 days of signing.

Before You Contact GMX Customer Support

Many problems end before a message is needed. These checks take a few minutes.

Read the Status Banner

GMX shows a status line at the top of its articles. The English site reads Serverstatus: ok when all is well. The German site shows a blue banner reading Keine StΓΆrungen. GMX names that banner as the reliable source for outages.

During a fault, you are asked to wait. An outage does not always block every way in, so try the web login, the phone app or a mail program over IMAP or POP3.

Fix Common Login Problems

GMX's own advice for a failed login covers typos, Caps Lock, an old password saved in your browser and damaged cookies. For a forgotten password, it points you to password.gmx.com. There you can get a reset code at a backup email address or by text message. Our GMX login guide walks through every domain and each recovery case.

Check Your Mail Program Settings

A mail program that stops working is often a settings problem. Check the server, port and encryption values first. Our IMAP and SMTP settings guide lists them.

Try the App Instead of the Browser

If the browser fails, test the GMX app on your phone. It shows whether the fault sits with your computer or with the account. Our GMX app guide covers installing and signing in.

Collect Your Details

Before a contract question, find your customer number. Customer support may also ask for a support PIN. Both live in your account:

  1. Sign in on the website, tap your initials and choose Account verwalten.
  2. Select Kontakt in the left menu. This is the customer service tab, and your customer number is shown there.
  3. Scroll down and pick Support PIN generieren if you are asked for a PIN.

The overview shows a different customer number, which does not work here. The PIN expires, so create it just before you call or chat.

What Happens After You Contact GMX

The automatic reply comes first. GMX says its tips helped other customers. Answering that mail reaches an agent, and no fixed answer time is promised.

Blocked accounts need patience. The security department blocks accounts that send spam or phishing. It also blocks hacked accounts to protect them. For a hacked account, GMX asks you to write to the GMX support team about removing the block.

Each reactivation is judged case by case. After a hack, it may work if you can prove ownership. It will not work for accounts registered through a prohibited VPN, deactivated for inactivity, or used to send spam.

Fake GMX Customer Service Emails

Scammers copy the GMX name. Two GMX articles describe the tricks and the right reaction.

How the Fakes Look

GMX lists these signs:

  • A sender name that matches a real GMX name
  • A sender address with swapped letters, such as "serivce" for "service"
  • Links whose visible text differs from the real address
  • A claimed invoice from GMX that you must pay
  • A warning that GMX will deactivate your account unless you click a link
  • A claimed virus found in your mail, with a link for a scan
  • A claimed blocklist entry, with a link to verify your account

There is also a visual check. Genuine mails show a blue and white check mark beside the sender in the web mailbox and app. Mail programs such as Outlook do not show it. A missing mark points to a fake. When in doubt, do not contact GMX through links in such mails. Sign in directly instead.

Check and Report a Suspicious Message

GMX suggests three reactions:

  • Compare a claimed invoice with the list under Rechnungen in your account. No matching invoice means a fake.
  • Save the message as an EML file and upload it to the Postmaster service. A fake gets the result "PrΓΌfung auf Echtheit: negativ". You can then report it as phishing.
  • Move it to your spam folder, which trains your personal spam filter.

The English articles add that you can forward the extended header and the body to GMX support. They also say not to forward suspicious mails to others and not to open attachments.

Emailing GMX Users? Verify Before You Send

Some readers write to people who use GMX. If your list holds gmx.com, gmx.net, gmx.de or gmx.at addresses, check them before a campaign. Typos and dead mailboxes cause bounces.

BillionVerify's email verifier tests one address or a whole list. Here is what to know:

  • valid and invalid results cost 1 credit each, and unknown results are free
  • a free re-check is available within 24 hours
  • catch-all addresses get their own label and are not counted as valid
  • role addresses such as info@ and support@ are detected
  • the free tier adds 20 credits per active day, up to 600 a month, and they never expire
  • no credit card is needed to start
  • a REST API, an MCP server and 25+ integrations are available
  • the servers are in France (EU), and a DPA can be signed

BillionVerify role account detection with syntax, pattern, SMTP and role steps

BillionVerify checks an address in steps and marks role accounts.

Our reverse email lookup shows the domain and public profiles tied to an address. If a claimed GMX contact lists a phone line, our phone checker shows whether the line is valid for its country. Neither tool proves that a contact belongs to GMX. Only GMX's own sites can do that.
