I've been putting off cleaning up my photo library for way too long because every app I tried wanted to upload everything to the cloud first. This weekend I stumbled on Lap, a local-first open-source photo manager, and it honestly felt like a breath of fresh air. I pointed it at my messy folder of years of phone dumps and it browsed and searched everything offline, no account, no sync, nothing leaving my drive. The privacy angle isn't marketing fluff here, it's just how it works. I spent a couple of evenings tagging and deduping, and my library finally feels manageable instead of terrifying. If you've been meaning to sort out your own archive without handing it to some server, give Lap a look at https://lapphotos.com/. Small win, but a real one.
