Connect TalkPix to Claude or ChatGPT over MCP: talking photos and product video ads from a chat

TalkPix now runs as a remote MCP server, so Claude and ChatGPT can make videos with your TalkPix account without you leaving the chat. You attach a photo, describe what you want, and the assistant quotes the cost in credits. Nothing renders until you say yes, and the finished video plays inline in the conversation.

This post covers the endpoint, how authentication works, the setup in both assistants, and the guardrails.

The endpoint

https://www.talkpix.ai/api/mcp

It speaks Streamable HTTP and uses OAuth with dynamic client registration. An unauthenticated request gets a standard 401 that points the client at the protected-resource metadata:

curl -i -X POST https://www.talkpix.ai/api/mcp \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -H 'Accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"initialize","params":{"protocolVersion":"2025-06-18","capabilities":{},"clientInfo":{"name":"probe","version":"0"}}}'

# HTTP/2 401
# www-authenticate: Bearer resource_metadata="https://www.talkpix.ai/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp"

MCP clients follow that header to /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server, register themselves, and send you to TalkPix to sign in and approve. The server is also published in the Official MCP Registry as io.github.talkpixai/talkpix.

The tools

Tool What it does
create_talking_photo Animates a photo of a person, pet or object so it speaks a script
create_product_ad Turns one product photo into a short video ad; the assistant writes the script and picks one of four presenters
start_generation, list_models AI video with models such as Seedance 2.5 and P-Video 2 Pro
estimate_cost, get_balance What a video would cost, and what is left in the account
get_generation_status, list_generations Follow a render and list earlier ones
upload_photo, get_upload_link Get a photo from the chat to TalkPix

Set it up in Claude

  1. Have TalkPix credits. Videos made from Claude use the same credits and prices as the website.
  2. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector. Name it TalkPix and paste https://www.talkpix.ai/api/mcp.
  3. Press Connect next to TalkPix. Claude opens TalkPix: sign in, read what Claude will be allowed to do, and press Connect.
  4. So Claude can pass a photo you attach in the chat to TalkPix, add www.talkpix.ai to the allowed domains for code execution in Settings → Capabilities. Without it, Claude opens a small TalkPix window where you pick the photo instead.
  5. Optional: on Connected assistants in TalkPix, set how much Claude may start per video and per day.

Custom connectors work on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Full guide: talkpix.ai/claude.

Set it up in ChatGPT

  1. Have TalkPix credits.
  2. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. It is available on paid ChatGPT plans.
  3. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it TalkPix, choose OAuth sign-in, and paste https://www.talkpix.ai/api/mcp.
  4. ChatGPT opens TalkPix: sign in, review the permissions, and press Connect. Photos you attach in a chat reach TalkPix directly.
  5. Optional: set a per-video and per-day budget on Connected assistants.

Things to ask

  • "Make a TikTok ad for this backpack with Aria. It's lightweight, waterproof and has a laptop sleeve. For university students."
  • "Three Instagram Reels ads for this serum, each with a different hook. Presenter: Stella."
  • "Make the person in this photo say: Happy birthday, Sarah! Have an amazing year. Use a warm, friendly voice."
  • "An 8-second vertical video of a coffee cup on a rainy window sill, slow camera push-in."
  • "How many credits do I have left, and what did my last video cost?"

The guardrails

Letting an assistant spend money needs limits, so these are built into the server rather than left to the prompt:

  • Price first. Every paid tool returns a quote before it starts. Product ads are quoted as a range, and the job can never be charged more than the top of that range.
  • Your budget wins. The per-video and per-day caps you set on TalkPix apply to every request. Anything above them needs your confirmation on TalkPix.
  • No payment details in the chat. The assistant sees your balance and your videos, never your card. Credits are bought on TalkPix.

Why MCP for this

Before this, making a product ad meant writing a script somewhere, opening a video tool, uploading the photo and pasting the script. Now the assistant that wrote the script also starts the render, shows the price, and plays the result in the same conversation. The video still lands in your TalkPix library, so you can download it or make another one on the website.

If you build MCP servers yourself, the pattern that worked for us was a server-side quote step and server-side budgets. The assistant can be as helpful as it likes, and the spending rules still hold.

TalkPix turns a photo into a talking video, a product video ad or an AI video. Credit packs are one-time purchases; no subscription is required.
